SERMON BY: Dr. John Waterloo
SERMON TITLE: The Blessing of True Friendship
SERMON THEME: Relationships
SERMON SERIES: Proverbs
SERMON TEXT: Proverbs 18:24; 1Samuel 18:1-4
1. People with the same heart are naturally attracted to each other
2. We can know a lot about a person by their friends
3. Friendships are often born by sharing hardships or victories
- A man who has friends must BE friendly
- If we don’t have friends, we need to check our hearts and then WE must change ourselves!
- Jesus should be our closest friend! He will never leave us, even in the seasons of life.May WE be the type of friend we need to be!
Proverbs 18:24 A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.
1Samuel 18: 1 And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. 2 And Saul took him that day, and would let him go no more home to his father’s house. 3 Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul. 4 And Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was upon him, and gave it to David, and his garments, even to his sword, and to his bow, and to his girdle.
